As part of its goal to help graduates have productive lives and careers through partnerships, Far Eastern University (FEU), through its Career and Placement Office (CAPO) held the two-day FEU Career Fair 2024 at its Manila campus as one of the highlights of the Graduates’ Send Off activities.
A total of 78 FEU partners from a variety of industries participated in the career fair, offering Tamaraws from different institutes a diverse range of opportunities.
The event, initially scheduled in April, was postponed due to the high heat index and was instead held a week before the commencement exercises on July 3 and 4.
“I’m happy that [in] the reflections [students were] grateful for the opportunity to be immersed with industry partners—that even though they were about to graduate, they were still given the chance to make employment easier,” said Faith Jovellanos, CAPO Coordinator.
She added that she was proud that many Tamaraws actually acquired employment opportunities through the career fair.
“We have seen a lot of companies that have hired our students on the spot, some of them listed down more than a hundred students for final interview—even though they hadn’t graduated yet, before they even stepped into the halls of [Philippine International Convention Center],” said Jovellanos.
The CAPO has long been working to connect students with potential employers and career opportunities. The first career fair, Online Recruitment Exclusive for Tamaraws was held in January 2021 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As face-to-face classes resumed, CAPO has conducted several programs and projects such as seminars, trainings, internships, and company tours that allow Tamaraws to be better equipped to meet the demands of the industry.
“We have prepared numerous activities this school year and hope that everyone will participate,” said Jovellanos.
