Sustainable educational inititiatives

Updated: Aug 8

Far Eastern University (FEU) integrates sustainability through educational initiatives, as well through partnerships, efficiency, and mitigation efforts.

FEU President Juan Miguel R. Montinola led the Solar Panel Turnover Ceremonies at FEU Roosevelt-Marikina and FEU Cavite, marking a significant step toward sustainability in partnership with WEnergy Global.

One of FEU's aspirations is to become a sustainable educational institution by integrating the United Nations' 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). This integration aims to create a safe and inclusive environment for all stakeholders through FEU’s activities, initiatives, and policies. In support of the SDGs, FEU has launched various efforts toward a sustainable future, including energy efficiency, waste management practices, and fostering green spaces.

Last May 29, another milestone was achieved at FEU Cavite, where WEnergy Power Pilipinas (WEnergy Global) turned over the solar panels installed on the campus rooftops. These initiatives underscore the institution's unwavering commitment to sustainability and proactive efforts in addressing environmental challenges.

FEU Cavite Executive Director Dr. Myrna P. Quinto said they are witnessing a commitment of promise and a step toward a greener and more sustainable future.

“FEU has always been at the forefront of innovation and progress. Our commitment to sustainability is not new, but today we are taking it a step further. The installation of these solar panels is a testament to our dedication to reducing our carbon footprint and making FEU Cavite a big part of sustainability. Institutions like ours have a role to play in combating climate change, and this serves as a reminder that each one of us can make a difference,” said Quinto.

President Montinola said the FEU's shift to solar panels, centralized cooling systems, and a central water filtration plant, to provide safe and efficient drinking water throughout the campus are only the initial plans. More sustainable initiatives are lined up as FEU remains dedicated to its students and future generations.
