Katrina J. Magbitang is the first recipient of the Alfredo Reyes Sports Excellence Award, given during the Far Eastern University (FEU) Academic Excellence Recognition Ceremony last July 4.

The award is conferred upon an outstanding athlete who has had exemplary performance in sports at the national or international level. The awardee, aside from having consistently garnered impressive wins in a specific sports category, ensures that a sports legacy anchored on the highest degree of sportsmanship is passed on to the university’s next cohort of athletes.

Katrina, who graduated with a degree in Bachelor of Science in Exercise and Sports Sciences Major in Fitness and Sports Management, is a model of excellence in the field and in the classroom.

She is a two-time University Athletic Association of the Philippines (UAAP) champion, Season 85 UAAP Women’s Football Most Valuable Player, and UAAP Season 86 Scholar-Athlete of the Year and made the Dean's List during her entire four-year stay in FEU.

FEU Athletics director Mark Molina presented the award during the ceremony.

Katrina said her next goals include enlisting in the Philippine Air Force and contributing to the sports development program in her home province of Tarlac.

"I am deeply grateful for all the blessings and support especially from the FEU community that have guided me through my journey in UAAP Women’s Football. Receiving the Alfredo Reyes Sports Excellence Award, as the first-ever recipient, is a dream come true.  Thank you to everyone who has been part of my journey—coaches, teammates, professors, mentors, and my family—for your unwavering support and belief in me. I am truly privileged to represent our university and cherish every moment of this incredible experience," she said.
