FEU, partners forge strategic partnership

Updated: Aug 14

Far Eastern University (FEU) has taken a significant step toward strengthening the bridge between academe and industry through the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with ING, SM and DDB Group Philippines.

Key Components of the Partnership

The MOU, signed by FEU President Juan Miguel Montinola together with the DDB Group Philippines Chairman and CEO Gil Chua, SM Hypermarket President Alvin Paul Daluz, SM Supermarket President Jojo Tagbo, and ING Country Manager Hazel Delos Santos outlines several collaborative endeavors designed to benefit students and enhance their career readiness. Raquel Baquiran, FEU Vice President for Academic Services acted as co-signatory, highlighting the commitment from all the institutions to this strategic partnership.

Internship Training and Job Placement

Central to the agreement is the creation of structured internship programs, which aim to provide FEU students with hands-on experience in the industry. These internships are designed to bridge the gap between theoretical knowledge and practical application, equipping students with the skills necessary to thrive in their future careers.  The partnerships also emphasize job placement opportunities for deserving graduating students. This initiative will enable students to secure positions that align with their academic training and career aspirations, facilitating a smoother transition from university to the professional world.

Seminars, Recruitments, and Certification Programs

In addition to internships and job placements, the MOU includes a commitment to organizing seminars and recruitment events, which will enhance students' knowledge of industry trends and provide them with valuable networking opportunities.  Certification programs will be offered for a chance to earn credentials that can enhance students’ employability. These programs are designed to align with industry standards, ensuring that FEU graduates are competitive candidates in the job market.

Shared Aspirations and Fresh Perspectives

The agreement establishes a framework for collaboration that aligns with the aspirations of FEU's leadership. By working closely with these industry partners, FEU aims to orient students toward successful careers, providing them with access to industry insights and the opportunity to contribute fresh perspectives to the business sector.

Commitment to Meaningful Engagement

FEU President Montinola emphasized the importance of meaningful engagement with employers, stating that the university is committed to creating internship programs that support both students and graduates.

"These partnerships are a testament to our dedication to preparing our students for the future," said Montinola. "By collaborating with industry leaders, we can ensure that our students receive the guidance and experience they need to succeed."  The collaboration between FEU, ING, SM and DDB Group Philippines marks a significant milestone in the pursuit of academic excellence and career readiness. Through this partnership, these institutions are poised to create impactful experiences for students, paving the way for a new generation of industry-ready graduates.
