 1,650 trees to be planted

Updated: Oct 2

In a step toward environmental sustainability, the university, in collaboration with the Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR) and the National Service Training Program-Community Relations (NSTP-ComRel), launched the "Community Pan-Tree" initiative during the annual Tatak Tamaraw event from Aug. 7 to 9. The event, which coincided with the Start of Academeic Year and Faculty Day orientations, focused on promoting environmental consciousness by distributing tree seedlings to members of the FEU community.

A total of 1,650 seedlings of various species, including narra, guyabano, calamansi, lemon, lanzones, and rambutan, were distributed to the university staff, concessionaires, and students. The initiative aims to encourage the university community to contribute to reforestation efforts and promote sustainable urban agriculture.

Any excess seedlings were allocated to FEU Diliman and FEU Cavite campuses, with an additional 250 sets of vegetable seedlings distributed through a partnership with the Bureau of Plant Industry. This move strengthens FEU's ongoing efforts to expand its environmental advocacy across its campuses.

Through this initiative, FEU demonstrates its commitment to sustainability and social responsibility, ensuring that future generations of Tamaraws are engaged in the protection and preservation of the environment.
