The Center for Teaching and Learning (CTL), in collaboration with the FEU Culture of Teaching and Service Program, held an orientation aimed at acculturating new teachers into the Far Eastern University community. The program focuses on fostering the unique teaching philosophies and values of FEU while introducing new educators to its academic culture.
This extensive program includes a four-session 90-hour engagement series, where each session is equivalent to 3 learning units. The initiative also prepares new teachers to contribute to FEU’s dynamic academic environment.
Spearheaded by Mariz Autor together with Abdul Haiy Sali, who acts as the facilitator during the first run of this endeavor, the participants have emerged themselves into the dynamics of the student-centered paradigm. CTL
One of the sessions was held last Sept. 12 in Room 409 of the Admissions Building. This particular session focused on Student-Centered Pedagogies, a teaching approach that places the needs, learning styles, and interests of students at the heart of instructional methods. The session was well-received by participants, many of whom are teaching assistants looking to complete their master’s degrees in FEU.
This program also aligns with the goals of the FEU 400 Teachers Scholarship Program, which supports educators working toward their graduate studies. Through these sessions, FEU aims to cultivate a cadre of highly skilled and reflective educators who will continue to champion student success and embody the university's commitment to academic excellence and service.
