The FEU EDC BINHI Arboretum is a dedicated space where 56 endemic, native, and endangered species have been planted, creating a sanctuary for the protection and propagation of these vital plant species. With the planting of approximately 200 trees, the arboretum aims to serve as a living laboratory for students, researchers, and environmental advocates, promoting ecological awareness and environmental stewardship.

This initiative is a partnership involving multiple FEU campuses and programs, namely FEU Manila, FEU Cavite, the FEU National Service Training Program and Community Relations, FEU Herbarium and the FEU Senior High School. Through this collaborative endeavor, FEU is not only addressing the need for conservation but also enriching the educational experience of its students by providing them with the opportunity to actively engage in sustainable and environmental practices.

The arboretum launch highlights the university’s ongoing efforts to blend sustainability with education. Speaking at the event, Maria Nancy Ibuna, EDC BINHI- Head of Corporate Relations and Communications, emphasized the importance of conserving these endangered species and promoting sustainability within the FEU community. The MOU signing with EDC solidified a shared vision of fostering green spaces that not only preserve biodiversity but also serve as tools for education and community involvement.

As FEU continues to uphold its mission of integrating sustainability into its educational framework, the FEU EDC BINHI Arboretum will stand as a testament to the university’s dedication to environmental preservation, research, and advocacy. This newly established arboretum will also be instrumental in future conservation efforts, ensuring that the knowledge and responsibility for protecting the natural environment is passed on to future generations.

This collaborative project serves as a crucial step in ensuring that future generations of Filipinos have the opportunity to enjoy and learn from the country’s natural heritage. The FEU EDC BINHI Arboretum will undoubtedly serve as a model for other academic institutions and communities looking to contribute to the preservation of the environment through education and action.
